December 10 - 13, 2012 at The Institute of Mathematical Sciences

Venue: Ramanujan Auditorium, IMSc

A 4-day Symposium in high energy physics (HEP) phenomenology in which 16 distinguished speakers will review the current status of the field. In addition to leading phenomenologists, experimentalists from current and future planned experiments that are central to the field will speak about important recent results. The purpose is to inform the Indian HEP community (mainly HEP students) about current and future research activity worldwide. In addition to the distinguished speakers, the participants will include about 50 HEP students and young researchers from across India. The goal is for the distinguished visitors to interact with the participants and the other members of the Institute, and deliver lectures accessible to them. This should serve to bring awareness of the present exciting activities and developments in the field, and to help orient them in their future research work. We also plan to hold a few public lectures for the general public and school children of the greater Chennai area. Ultimately, the aim is to convey the excitement of cutting edge research in these areas in physics to graduate students, school children and the general public.
